Sdumo is operated by Mpona (Pty) Ltd, based in Gaborone, Botswana ("Sdumo", "we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. By using Sdumo (sdumo.com and the Sdumo app) you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account details: your phone number and name, used to sign you in via one-time code (OTP) and PIN.
- Vehicle information: registration, make, model, mileage, and details of faults or diagnoses you enter.
- Location & road data: if you enable it, your location and your phone's motion-sensor readings (used to measure road quality and driving smoothness). This helps improve road-condition information for all drivers.
- Photos & voice notes: images or audio you upload to describe a car problem for diagnosis.
- Messages: if you contact us through WhatsApp, we process the messages you send so we can respond and help with your request.
- Payment information: subscription payments are processed by our payment provider (DPO). We do not store your full card details; DPO handles them securely.
How we use your information
- To provide vehicle diagnosis, parts sourcing, and mechanic matching.
- To operate road-intelligence features that benefit drivers.
- To communicate with you about your requests, including over WhatsApp.
- To process subscriptions and keep the service secure.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We share only what is necessary to deliver a service you have asked for — for example, passing a parts request to a supplier or connecting you with a mechanic you choose — and with service providers who process data on our behalf (such as our payment processor and messaging platform) under confidentiality obligations. We may disclose information if required by law.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, and as required to meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see below).
Your rights & choices
- You can review and update your profile in the app.
- You can turn location and road-data sharing on or off in Settings.
- You can request deletion of your account and data — see our Data Deletion page.
